Who Can Play Polo At Dallas Burston?

Equestrian polo is a fun, fast-paced and highly addictive sport to play. What better place to learn than at the largest, finest Polo Venue in the whole of Warwickshire?

Dallas Burston Polo Club proudly features six playing pitches of various sizes across it’s multi-million, 600-acre grounds, as well as a 140m x 70m all-weather arena; all with perfect views of the stunning Warwickshire countryside. The Club hosts a variety of tournaments and matches, covering all skill levels- pretty much every weekend during the summer playing season will feature a game or two! And it isn’t just professionals and highly skilled players who can play; Dallas also offers tuition for the improving player, or even the complete beginner

Lessons are available all year round, throughout the day. If you are a complete beginner, however, it might be best to try polo during the Club’s arena season, which runs October to March. The enclosed walls are a little less intimidating than the vast grass pitches – and the balls are also bigger! The Club’s polo manager, Huw Beavan, offers expert tuition that can be tailored to the group. No matter what age or ability, you are guaranteed to have fun.

You Do NOT Need:

To have previous riding experience. Everyone can learn on the job! The game unleashes the competitive spirit in even the most relaxed person, and even if you are nervous to begin with, you will find your attention very quickly becomes focused on getting the ball, rather than riding.

To own your own horse. The Club has many school ponies that are well-trained, with fantastic, friendly personalities, who will be happy to teach you a thing or two about playing polo.

Specialist playing equipment. The Club has mallets, kneepads and riding hats in a variety of sizes, and your instructor will happily help you pick the best ones for you.

You DO Need:

Jodhpurs or jeans are a perfectly good alternative to polo “whites’, which are built to withstand the pressures of playing and protect your legs. Nobody likes saddle burn!

Boots with a short heel. These can be long or ankle boots, though long are preferable.

Enthusiasm and a healthy “can do” attitude!

Lessons are £45 per person for a group of three adults, or £50 for a private one-to-one lesson.

If you want to really immerse yourself, half and full polo days are also available on request.

Learning to play polo also makes for fantastic hen/stag parties, birthdays and corporate team-building days!

Did you know Dallas Burston also offers Dressage tuition? Classes run mid-week during the summer months, and cover Preliminary to Advanced Medium.
